Hello, I'm Darcy.
Hi, I’m Darcy — the face behind The Wedding Nanny Teacher. I’m a qualified primary teacher with over 7 years of experience, specialising in Early Years Foundation Stage and supporting children with a wide range of additional needs.
From a young age, I’ve always loved being around and caring for young children. I’m also a proud auntie to my nephew Palmer, who I absolutely adore and regularly care for. Spending time with him has only strengthened my passion for working with little ones and creating safe, happy, and nurturing environments where children feel comfortable and cared for.
Throughout my career, I’ve gained experience working in a range of educational settings, including primary schools, nursery settings, and alternative provisions. This has allowed me to support children of different ages, personalities, and needs, helping me develop a calm, patient, and adaptable approach to childcare.
I’ve always naturally been the person entertaining children at family parties and gatherings, and I genuinely love getting involved in imaginative play, crafts, colouring, games, dancing, and helping children feel confident and settled. Children often warm to me quickly because I take the time to get to know them, understand their personalities, and make them feel safe and included.
I know how important it is for parents to trust the person caring for their children, especially on such an important day. That’s why I pride myself on creating warm and relaxed environments where children feel happy and cared for, while parents can fully switch off and enjoy their celebration knowing their little ones are in experienced and caring hands.
My Story
The Wedding Nanny Teacher began in 2025 when I had the incredible opportunity to nanny for a work colleague’s wedding in Ronda, Spain. It was such a special experience and one that completely changed my perspective on childcare within weddings.
Being surrounded by love, happiness, and celebration while also supporting young children throughout the day made me realise how much I genuinely loved combining two things I’m passionate about — caring for children and being part of unforgettable family moments.
I remember spending the day with the little boy I was nannying for, and by the end of the wedding he wanted to be with me constantly and called me “my friend” for the day. We danced together, blew bubbles, coloured in, shared snacks, and even walked down the aisle together. Watching him feel so calm, happy, and comfortable in such a busy environment was incredibly special to me.
One of my favourite memories from the wedding was sitting in the sunshine while he happily ate tacos and drank strawberry mocktails, completely enjoying the celebrations in his own little way. Throughout the evening we also created a funny little joke about spotting crocodiles in the lake nearby — something that became our own running joke for the night.
The next day, his mum messaged me to say he had been asking where I was because he wanted to show me a crocodile he thought he had spotted in the lake. Hearing that honestly made me emotional because it reminded me how important those small connections and moments are for children.
That wedding didn’t just inspire a business idea — it showed me how valuable it is for families to have someone calm, caring, and genuinely invested in their children during such an important occasion. Seeing the children happy and settled allowed the adults to fully relax and enjoy every moment, and that’s when I knew I wanted to create something dedicated entirely to wedding childcare.
Since then, my goal has been simple — to provide caring, flexible, and personalised wedding childcare that allows couples and families to fully enjoy one of the most important days of their lives, knowing their little guests are in safe and experienced hands.
